Amana Flood Relief Program

Amana brand: A legacy of providing comfort in challenging conditions

Many Amana brand employees, friends, and community members recently may have experienced the devastation from Hurricanes across Texas and Florida.  Given the current status of the storm conditions, we can now begin the long-term restoration and reconstruction processes that will allow families to return to more comfortable conditions.  Homes that were damaged face a variety of conditions.  Not only are furnishings, the structure of the home, and personal belongings ruined by flood waters, a home’s central heating and cooling (HVAC) system may be damaged too.

This is one of the many reasons why Amana brand has developed a special program to assist those whose home comfort was jeopardized due the effects of the recent Hurricanes and Tropical Storms.

Immediate Action

Amana brand understands that many homeowners will be faced with large, unplanned expenses as they recover from the aftermath of a hurricane or flood.  Currently Amana brand is offering special discounts on Amana brand heating and cooling systems to all participating Amana brand dealers in your area.

Effective immediately, special pricing discounts are being offered to Amana brand dealers to offer to affected homeowners. To ensure that the reduced prices are received by the homeowner, Amana brand’s Homeowner Support team will make random calls to homeowners to confirm they received the appropriate pricing. Further, the local Amana brand dealer and affected homeowner will need to complete and sign a participation form that confirms the installation.

This is a substantial discount that will help homeowners replace any damaged HVAC systems as quickly as possible. Many Amana brand employees and dealers live in your local community and they, too, have experienced many issues relating to the storms. This promotional program continues the legacy of the Amana brand to provide comfort to those in need.

Flood Damaged HVAC systems

Appearances can be deceiving. If your home was flooded, it is highly recommended that you have a qualified HVAC technician inspect your home’s heating and cooling system before using it.

Even if your HVAC system is energized and appears to be working when you return home, it is highly likely that the system will not operate properly, will not deliver the performance that you expect, and may cease to function shortly after it appeared to be working.

Although your outdoor unit might look the same as it did prior to the flood, many hidden concerns may not be obvious to the untrained eye.  Simply stated, your heating and cooling system was not designed to operate under water. If the unit was running when flooding occurred, there could be severe electrical shorts or damaged electrical components that may not be visible. In addition, if the outdoor unit experienced flooding, it’s likely that the condenser coil is now dirty. Most often, flood waters contain dirt, grime, and other things that can adhere to the condenser coil.  Properly cleaning the condenser requires professional equipment and chemicals and should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician.

Indoor components of your HVAC system are also affected by flood damage. Flood waters can cause corrosion of electrical components and cause similar damage to the outdoor unit. Also, gas furnaces have gas valves and other components that will need to be inspected before operating the unit.
